INDICATIONS
Chemotherapy
Palonosetron is used to prevent acute or delayed nausea and vomiting that occurs within and after the first 24 hrs of chemotherapy. Palonosetron is used in ongoing courses of chemotherapy regimens that have a 30 to 40% chance of causing nausea and vomiting, known as, moderately emetogenic cancer chemotherapy (MEC). Children as young as 1 month old can take Palonosetron.

Postoperative
Palonosetron is used as a post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) preventative. PONV is a common unpleasant adverse reaction of surgery and general anesthesia. Palonosetron has the highest binding harmony to the 5-HT3 receptor out of its drug class, with an elimination half-life of approximately 40 hours that provides extended relief to patients receiving the drug.
